KNIT expo's ethos is to:
- enable people to understand, describe, and re-describe the whole world of hand-knitting.
- hold the past and future of hand- knitting in 'our' hands.
- create hand-knitting as an adventure/experience.
- celebrate the power of hand-knitting; as a social interaction

how this happens:
- exhibitions, inter-active art installations, curating events with a hand-knit emphasis
- host the big KNIT show annually (platform/showcase/trade-fair - inspirational and educational).
- KNIT ins (fixed or travelling) as ‘seedbeds’ for new and experienced hand-knit designers/artists for mutual support and learning.
- offer training/workshops (KNIT school); provide concrete skills and inspire confidence in autonomous design and exploration.
To attract and keep an audience, art must entertain, but the significance of any art lies in its ability to express truths or to re-frame the ‘everyday’; to reveal and help us understand our world.
