Belinda Harris-Reid BA Hons. (Music), MA (Theatre)
Belinda’s work has always been driven largely by the fascination with how people inter-act and what acts them. How people work productively/ creatively and collectively; with passion and confidence. Her enthusiastic spirit and genuine belief that ‘everyone should have the opportunity to be heard/seen’ has brought about great change in people’s lives, on a personal and professional level.
Belinda wants everyone to
knit.
'Hand-knitted' should be
presented as a performance;
theatrical, a celebration.
My work often appears organic but is in fact highly planned. Challenging preconceptions of knit by combining traditional knitting designs and stylistics and re-forming them into unusual shapes that are wearable excite and delight me. By constructive and deconstructive exploration (knit and un-ravel), the designs evolve organically, forming pattern through structure.
I like the unconventional.
The possibilities of hand-
knitting are a constant
inspiration.

Ruth Morris
Ruth has (nearly)always knitted, and has searched for good yarn and simple well written designs. She started 'scripting' her designs when she was asked by her students and members of various knitting groups, set up by Ruth, for 'directions'. She has a special interest in garments for babies, having had five of her own to wrap up against the cold and discomfort of the world. Her long term aim is to establish a training and trading relationship with the women of the Gulu area in Uganda, using her textiles skills, and adding group work counselling experience.
"We also think
that knitting is, and
always has been
a people up occupation
and remains (literally)
in out hands." - Ruth Morris
- Founder of Knit2Tog (knitting group and seedbed for independent knitting skills exchange - this collective supports the Daycare Centre in Palenga, Northern Uganda.
- Freelance hand-knitting designer/trainer (an strong advocate of the ‘folk knitting tradition’).
- Award winner from UnLtd (Lottery/Millennium Funding) for community knitting project; Blanket Box Scheme (training development and practical artistic skills mentoring).
